Leuven.Inc Labcafé, KU Leuven, March 26, 2013

During the first edition of the Leuven.Inc Labcafé titled 'Slimme mechanica voor de maakindustrie'(=Smart mechanics for the manufacturing industry), Wim Desmet , head of the research, and Bert Pluymers, IOF representative and research manager, both from KULeuven Noise and Vibration research group, will explain to the auditory coming from the businees world, how their research could make a difference in the manufacturing industry attacking some contemporary challenges such as:

- mechatronic modeling and optimization: virtual techniques to real problems;

- quiet and low-vibration lightweight structures: difficult, but not impossible.

Use of Beams, Joints and Panels for Vehicle Body Concept Modelling

At the ESMC conference in Graz, Stijn Donders (LMS) presented a paper on a methodology for the concept design of beam-like structures, joints and panels in a vehicle FE model, with the aim of enabling accurate NVH simulations of the Body in White (BIW) already in the initial phases of the vehicle design process. More details about the published work are given here.

Automatic Frequency Response Function Calculation in a Multi-Body Solver and its Application for Road Load Prediction for Fatigue Analysis on Passenger Vehicles

At the IMSD2012 conference, Stefano Candreva (LMS) presented a new methodology to improve the productivity of the process for the computation of fatigue loads on a passenger car starting from experimental measurement applied to a multi-body model of the vehicle.
Details about this work can be found here.

A testimony on being a beneficiary in ITN and IAPP projects

Bert Pluymers (KULeuven) participated to the Information session Marie Curie Actions IEF, IOF and IIF - ITN and IAPP organized by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) in Brussels on 30 May 2012, bringing a testimony on being a beneficiary in ITN and IAPP projects. (pdfAgenda)
