The "Researchers' Night - SuperScienceMe" (UNICAL, September 26, 2014)

On friday the 26th of September 2014, the "Researchers’s Night - SuperScienceMe" took place in the Campus of the University of Calabria. The event allowed everyone to get knowledge about the University of Calabria and to better understand how the work of researchers concerns the daily life of each person. The slogan was: "research in your reach"; i.e., the research has to be completely accessible and not exclusive for only few people. The Liaison Office of the University, responsible for projects and programs regarding the promotion of cultural, social and economic development of the entire region, coordinated the initiative with the assistance of all the departments.

The event provided a program full of demonstrations, experiments, lab tours, shows, art, music and sport events, games for children, etc., which have made the Campus of Arcavacata like a big, friendly and exciting knowledge place, open to the public, particularly to students. About 10.000 visitors of all ages participated, with a wide ages range.

The initiative also included the presence of "EU Corners", particular areas where research related to initiatives inserted in the FP7 (Seventh Framework Program) for research and innovation were presented, with a special attention to testimonies of researchers involved in "Marie Sklodowska-Curie" actions.

Among these, researchers involved in the INTERACTIVE project explained in detail their work, the already obtained results and the foreseen next steps.

EYE2013

LMS recently participated in an outreach event "EYE2013" in Antwerpen, Belgium (http://www.eyeantwerp.be/, Sept 6-8, 2013). At this event, about 100 young (graduated) engineers gathered from all over Europe, including LMS ESR fellows Claudio Colangeli (ITN GRESIMO) and Mariano Carpinelli (IAPP INTERACTIVE), for a three day community-making event.

Herman Van der Auweraer contributed with a presentation covering LMS and its in-house R&D approach/activities, and explaining how the Marie Curie program in general (and projects as INTERACTIVE in particular) have a very positive impact on the company and on the fellows’ career development.

Europe Day: KULeuven, November, 6th, 2012

On Tuesday 6 November 2012 the Association KU Leuven organises a "Europe Day". During this day, you can discover everything about European financing channels for applied, practical and educational research. The Association KU Leuven welcomes all researchers from the association and in particular those with little experience in European projects.

During the first part (which will be in English), the European financial support channels and the possibilities for colleges and universities will be illustrated by employees of the European Committee and the Flemish government. ESF, EFRO, INTERREF and Horizon 2020 are some funds that will be discussedthoroughly.

In the second part of the sessions, the practical side of it all will be addressed. How does a researcher file in a project? How to improve the chances of your project to be approved? What is the deadline? ... Employees from our colleges and universities will digress about their experiences. The second part will be in Dutch.

Among several projects, also the Interactive project will be presented during a postersession afterwards.

The day will be concluded with a reception.
